Kalki - Lord Vishnu Incarnation

KALKI "In Hinduism, Kalki is the tenth and final Maha Avatar (great incarnation) of Vishnu who will come to end the present age of darkness and destruction known as Kali Yuga. The name Kalki is often a metaphor for eternity or time. The origins of the name probably lie in the Sanskrit word 'kalka' which refers to mud, dirt, filth, or foulness and hence denotes the 'destroyer of foulness,' 'destroyer of confusion,' 'destroyer of darkness,' or 'annihilator of ignorance.'

Golden Age in 2012 - Mayan Calendar corroborates Hindu Prophecy

Golden Age in 2012 - Mayan Calendar corroborates Hindu Prophecy: "Golden Age Could Begin in 2012
The ancient Hindus mainly used lunar calendars but also used solar calendars. If an average lunar year equals 354.36 days, then this would be about 5270 lunar years from the time when the Kali Yuga started until 21 Dec 2012. This is the same year that the Mayans predict rebirth of our planet. It is also about 5113 solar years of 365.24 days per year, and is day number 1,867,817 into the Kali Yuga. By either solar or lunar years, we are over 5,000 years into the Kali Yuga and it is time for Lord Krishna's prophecy to happen according to the ancient Hindu scriptures. Lord Krishna's Golden Age could easily begin in 2012!"
Lot of predictions and discussions are going on around the world regarding the year 2012. Primarily, the calendar of the Mayans (Ancient Maya Civilization of South America) ends on December 21, 2012). People are also now trying to find a connection between Kali Yuga and 2012. Some astrologers are predicting that Kali Yuga will end in 2012 and Satya Yuga will begin from December 21, 2012.
I personally believe that the world as we know it is not going to end.
The Mayans and Hindu scriptures are just pointing to a change in human behavior.
Satyuga or the golden age is considered to be associated with realization, morality and respect for the society as whole. These changes can already be seen turning up within our society. People are becoming more inquisitive towards religion. They are are becoming more aware of their rights and value peace and well-being in society. Our past has shown us that every thing reaches it crux or peak before it collapses. Same is going to be with our thinking and ideology which has reached its saturation with evil, greed and fallacy.

Golden Age in 2012 - Mayan Calendar corroborates Hindu Prophecy

Golden Age in 2012 - Mayan Calendar corroborates Hindu Prophecy: "In the “Brahma-Vaivarta Purana”, Lord Krishna tells Ganga Devi that a Golden Age will come in the Kali Yuga - one of the four stages of development that the world goes through as part of the cycle of eras, as described in Hindu scriptures. Lord Krishna predicted that this Golden Age will start 5,000 years after the beginning of the Kali Yuga, and will last for 10,000 years.
Mayan Calendar Matches Hindu Calendar
It is interesting that this prediction of the emergence of a new world is prophesied to appear about the same time that the Mayans predicted it to come! The Mayan calendar began with the Fifth Great Cycle in 3114 BC and will end on 21 December 2012 AD. The Hindu Kali Yuga calendar began on 18 February 3102 B.C. There is only a difference of 12 years between the Hindu's beginning of the Kali Yuga and the Mayan's beginning of the Fifth Great Cycle."

Survive 2012: Ancient Mayan Doomsday, Pole Shifts and Evolution

"The Long Count Calendar of the Ancient Mayans ends on Dec 21 2012. There isn't much information regarding what the Mayans thought would occur in 2012, but the consensus of opinion is that there will be great change. To some people this means a positive, spiritual change. Others, like myself, consider that a catastrophic event may have been predicted, and it might mean the end of the world, as we know it"
It was just a couple of years back that i heard something like the end of days or the Armageddon coming. My immediate reaction was "BOGUS". A few more instances of the same topic being heard from friends and over the internet got me curious. I started Google-ing and digging deeper into blogs, scientific findings and religious connections about the event and found that it was more than a hoax. Something that everyone knew but no one was sure of...
Here is one more blog dedicated to discussing what i believe to be a twisted tale of our past.
